A Cool Shop

I saw this place while walking around the narrow streets of Barri Gòtic. It was filled with masks, finger puppets, and those ornate tiny finger puppet stages (...that I've only seen little kids have/play with in movies. Amazing!) I was too afraid to go inside though. The female shop owner looked highly highly intimidating. (She's probably a really nice lady. ::shoulder shrug::) So while she was taking a phone call and turned the other direction I snapped what I could from the windows.

Me

Relaxing near the Jaume I metro stop in back of Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand's castle. Just taking a break from walking.

Today's Lunch

I woke around 2pm today and cooked my first meal here. Since I was still feeling a bit ill I made soup!
White beans from a can that I had water and spices to - 1€; Gouda cheese - 1.99€; Salami - 1.89 €; Baguette - 1€; Orange juice - 1.65€ for 1L; and Yummy Spanish Olive Oil complements of the apartment I am staying in.

Total Cost for this meal for amount of food I ate: 1.45

(I have found since living here that - Shhh!!! Spanish Olive Oil is a lot better than Italian. In my opinion of course;) )

Groceries! for 13.90€

This is what 13.90will buy you at the grocery store. Nivea hand creme - 4.29 for 250 ml; Danone coconut yogurt - 1.05€ for a 4pack; Pere Camps Rosé - 2.25 €; Pere Camps Cava 2.65 €; Vida Zorzal Rosé - 1.95€ (this bottle was terrible in my opinion) ; Zumosol orange juice - 0.96€; Cidacos stewed white beans - 0.75€

Today's Dinner (Bug Salad- YUM)

It's hard to get veggies in on your meals. Most menus have very few selections that come with vegetables. So I started craving them and went back to my local snack bar El Canari and ordered a "lettuce salad". I have ordered this before in previous pics and it comes with carrot, cheese, lettuce, cucumber.... But today it came out like this (same price 4.25 ) complete with 3 bugs I found in it. A little extra protein gratis. :) You can barely see them in the photo but they are the three oil looking dots in the upper right area of the placemat. I happily finished the whole thing anyway and my yummy beer. -1.75 €.

Today's Breakfast

I say breakfast however it was probably closer to 4:30pm, but it was my first meal of the day. It's a pear tart. Today I felt the most sick out of all the days so I slept in then pulled myself out of bed to go the MACBA museum. This photo was taken on the steps outside MACBA as most of the museum's exhibits were closed until Friday, and I didn't want to pay the 9ticket fee for only some exhibits.

Today's Lunch

All I did this day was pull my sniffly face out of bed to go sip hot tea and eat egg drop soup and 3 delicious fried rice. It was the best egg drop soup I have ever had though. It tasted like it had leeks and wine or saki in it. This meal was a bit pricey cost me 9€ and I tipped 2€. Oh and I ate all that fried rice! The most I have over ate since being here.
